Arnside, Sandside and Storth

The pretty South Lakeland village of Arnside enjoys wonderful panoramic views across the estuary of the River Kent and northern reaches of Morecambe Bay towards Grange-over-Sands and the fells of the Lake District.

Arnside promenade is a delightful mix of shops, galleries, cafes and restaurants, along with popular pubs The Albion or The Fighting Cocks. The village has a number of convenience stores with the nearest supermarket, Booths, located at Milnthorpe approximately 4 miles away.

Arnside and outlying area fall within the Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with sites of scientific interest found around the limestone pavements, ancient woodlands, wildflower meadows and coastline.

Arnside railway station is part of the Furness Line, a regular service connecting Barrow-in-Furness and Cumbria’s west coast and Lancaster and the West Coast Main Line, and the railway passes over the River Kent via the impressive Arnside viaduct.

By road, junction 35 or junction 36 of the M6 motorway are both less than ten miles away from Arnside, with the A6 and A591 also providing easy and convenient routes into Kendal, Windermere the Lake District, or Carnforth and Lancaster to the south.

The village primary school is Arnside National C of E School with Storth CE School also nearby. The closest secondary education offering is at Dallam School in Milnthorpe.

A number of picturesque and desirable adjacent villages and communities can also be found within easy reach of Arnside including Storth, Sandside, Beetham and Carr Bank.

Residential properties in the area include many characterful traditional cottages and period homes, either in the various villages or stand-alone country homes. More modern homes can also be found, with a good number of bungalows and apartments including retirement-specific developments.
